Who We Are

Planting Social, Emotional, and Educational Development Skills (SEEDS) is made up of educators, social workers, researchers, advocates, and social change agents who have witnessed first hand the systemic inequities in our communities. We are compelled to enact change so that all individuals have equitable chances of achieving success across many domains. We work in diverse settings to achieve transformational change that will support the success of marginalized populations.

Our Vision

To create a more equitable social system in which all groups and individuals can flourish psychosocially, emotionally, and academically.

Our Mission

We ensure equal access to life success for all people by training leaders, administrators, and practitioners to proficiency in engaging diverse populations. We also assist individuals who are marginalized in their empowerment process so they may make responsible, informed, and beneficial life-changing decisions.

Our Objectives

We believe in intentional transformation, and model this by setting goals and objectives that will help us achieve our desired change for institutional and systemic equity. There are four key objectives that guide our practice:

  1. Train and prepare leaders and practitioners to meet the learning, social, and emotional needs of individuals from diverse populations.

  2. Collaborate with individuals to facilitate the acquirement and application of social emotional skills in their environments.

  3. Develop leaders and practitioners to provide inclusive environments that promote a sense of belonging, joy, and interest for all individuals.

  4. Assist with the application of alternative forms of intervention to alleviate disproportionately oppressive practices and policies that negatively impact individuals who are marginalized.
